Introduction to Quilting - June 15th, 2026

Whether you’re brand new to quilting or simply need a refresher, this Introduction to Quilting class is the perfect place to start. Students will learn essential quilting techniques including cutting, pressing, basic piecing, block construction, machine quilting, and binding. You'll learn what a scant 1/4" inch is and how to achieve it. By the end of class, you’ll complete a table runner and gain essential skills you'll use in future quilting projects!
Materials:
Fabric - See chart chart below
Sewing Machine
Basic sewing tools: scissors, rotary cutter, pins, thread, etc.
Acrylic ruler
Cutting mat for your table
Walking foot (not required - but recommended) 
Batting will be provided by the instructor for your table runners.
The Quilt Barn Class Policies

The class fee must be paid in full at the time of registration. You are not considered registered until the fee is paid. Class sizes are limited; we recommend early sign-ups.

If a class is full, you are welcome to get on the wait list to be notified if there is a cancellation. Open seats are on a first come first serve basis.

Supplies or materials required for class are not included in the class fee unless noted. If a pattern or special tool is listed, each student is required to purchase their own.

Please be aware that some classes require homework prior to class day.

If you cannot attend a class after registering, please let us know 7 days beforehand in order to receive a refund. If you notify us in less than 7 days, you will receive a store credit. No call and no show will not be refunded or credited.

The class schedule, size and cancellations are at the discretion of the instructor(s) Any class not meeting the minimum enrollment may be canceled.

Classes that are canceled by the instructor or The Quilt Barn will be refunded in full.

The safety of our customers is very important to us. In the event of inclement weather, please call or message the shop before coming in.

| Instructor Bio: | Cindy Hibbert is a long time sewer. She made her first quilt when she was a young teenager with her grandmother. She bought her first sewing machine when she was in high school. She likes making things, and likes to help others learn. Cindy has designed a quilt pattern called Switch-A-Roo, and also does long arm quilting. Cindy is always working on a sewing project of some kind. |
